What to Expect from A Dental Crown Procedure
Dental crown procedures usually happen in a couple of phases. At your first appointment, Dr. Catherine Young or Dr. Jared Young will administer a local anesthetic to your damaged tooth and can provide additional sedation to help you relax if desired. After the damaged part of your tooth is removed, an impression of the treated tooth will be taken and utilized by a dental lab to create your customized crown. A temporary crown will be placed over your treated tooth to allow for normal oral function and a natural look while your crown is being constructed. You will need to return about 7 – 14 days later so you can have the temporary crown replaced with the new custom-built restoration. Afterward, your dental crown will be smoothed to ensure your teeth come together evenly. When properly cared for, a dental crown should help protect the health of your tooth for years to come.
